Call for Applications: Assistant Editor, RASC Observer's Handbook

The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada [RASC] invites applications from the RASC membership and CASCA membership for the position of Assistant Editor for the Observer's Handbook. The successful candidate will initially work alongside the current Editor as an assistant, with the long-term plan to transition into the role of the next Editor. Position Overview & Core Duties The Editor acts as the primary project manager for this flagship publication, overseeing material from over 65 annual contributors. The Assistant Editor will support and eventually take over these collaborative and individual responsibilities, which include:
Project management: Coordinating and compiling annual submissions from dozens of regular contributors.
Content curation: Managing perennial content alongside highly time-sensitive, labour-intensive annual updates [e.g., Month by Month, Eclipses, Planets, and Occultations].
Production & editorial tasks: Selecting cover imagery, inviting guest editorialists, and personally calculating or generating core tables [such as Moon and Sun tables, including examples].
