MOST Launch Delay

Eurockot (the Russian-German consortium responsible for the launch of the MOST-Microvariability and Oscillations of STars satellite) has announced that the MOST launch has been postponed to April 2003. Project Principal Investigator Jaymie Matthews indicates, however, that "we are scheduled at least two years ahead of the next nearest space asteroseismology mission (COROT) and I think I'd rather be in
Plesetsk (800 km north of Moscow) in April as opposed to December!"

August 1, 2002-- The Principal Investigator, Prof. Jaymie Matthews of the University of British Columbia (UBC) presents Canada's first microsatellite, housing its first space telescope, MOST (Microvariability and Oscillations of STars), scheduled for launch in April 2003. The MOST project was managed by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), the telescope was developed by UBC and the satellite assembled by the University of Toronto Institute of Aerospace Studies. Dynacon Enterprises of Mississauga was the prime contractor. The space telescope can be seen in this picture in front of the microsatellite (CNW/Canadian Space Agency). For more information: http://www.space.gc.ca/whatsnew/releases/pressrel//2002/020801.asp
