Harvey Richer & family are spending the year in Roma. Harvey is on sabbatical at the Rome Centre for Liberal Arts of Loyola University of Chicago. Harvey should be returning to UBC for Sept 1999.
Maintaining UBC's trade balance with Italy, Elena Pierpaoli has joined us as a new postdoc (CITA National Fellowship) working with Douglas Scott & Mark Halpern. Elena completed her PhD at SISSA-ISAS (Trieste,Italy) where she was part the Planck-LFI working group & working on structure formation in different dark matter models, CMB predictions and comparaison with the data.
Georgi Mandushev recently defended his PhD thesis entitled "Stellar Populations in the Globular Cluster M55". Georgi will be leaving UBC soon to take a position at UC Irvine.
Rainer Kuschnig has taken a position with the MOST project office. Rainer recently completed a PhD at the Institut für Astronomie, Universität Wien.
