Welcome to the first web version of Cassiopeia! As you click
through the various contributions it will be obvious that we were
inundated with material, but you need only print the sections that
interest you, if at all. Michael West, Alan Batten and Glen
Herriot have set high standards for the first of the scientific,
historical, and instrumental articles which we want to feature in
every issue. Mel Blake and Francois Chagnon have made a great start
on a Graduate Page which we hope will become the
forum for our graduate issues.

Bienvenus à la première édition web de
Cassiopeia! Quand vous appuyez sur la case à l'écran aux diverses
contributions il sera bientôt évident que nous
étions inondés par toutes sortes de documentations;
mais, vous n'aurez qu'à imprimer ce qui vous
intéresse. Nos collègues Michael West, Alan Batten
et Glen Herriot ont visé un niveau
supérieur en ce qui concerne les premières articles
scientifiques, historiques et instrumentaux, qui seront notre
spécialité dans chaque édition. A la page
vouée aux étudients gradués, nous
témoignons du début tràs valable de Mel Blake
et Francois Chagnon, et, c'est notre désire que cette page
devienne le point de rencontre pour leurs
questions.

Our major effort as editors has been in putting articles and
translations into the Cassiopeia html format. We thank Jacques
Vallée and Daniel Durand for translations of the HIA
contributions and we are particularly grateful to those authors,
such as Michael West and Mel Blake, who submitted material in html.
In future, we shall push strongly for material in html - there must
be someone in your instituion who knows all about it.

allait à mettre les articles et leurs traductions en html.

pour la traduction des contributions de l'HIA, et, notre reconnaissance

Please write to us, both with constructive comments on this issue
and to the correspondence column on matters of real concern to
Canadian Astronomy. Ken Tapping, for example, raises an alarming
spectre of astronomical $ amounts being spent by the satellite
industry to erode the Radio spectrum while Paul Felenbok
anticipates the CFHT Users' meeting with an ingenious suggestion
for GECKO.

Naturally, we would greatly appreciate material in the Cassiopeia
html format and both languages (we shall supply a template) - and
please, include a picture, preferably scanned, together with a brief
bibliography.
